Gun Dog Trainer (full and part-time options available)

Are you an all-weather, outdoorsman? Do you have experience and strong proficiency with shot guns? Do you enjoy witnessing the partnership between hunters and their companion dogs?

QK dogs is growing and currently seeking to welcome gun dog trainers to our community.

Qualifications/Responsibilities:

  •  Must have hunting experience and be proficient with a shot gun.
  • Must also admire all breeds of sporting dogs and have a passion for training with a combination of patience, persistence and repetition.
  • A background with hunting dogs preferred, but the right candidate will receive training.
  • This physically-active position requires lifting a minimum of 50 pounds (up to 100, depending upon dog breed) and the ability to stand and walk for a good portion of the day.
  • An all-season sport, trainers will work in all weather conditions with some weekends or evening hours (limited) to accommodate the schedule of clients or gun dog competitions.
  • This role is fully integrated with well-rounded exposure to all aspects of training — dog/kennel care, game bird management, client relations and private coaching.

  •  Valid driver’s license and transportation required. Housing may be available on campus for those considering relocating or long-distance commuting.

Kennel Care Employees: (part-time position)

Are you looking for an active, part-time position that surrounds you with great dogs and a great team? QK is growing and welcoming new members to our Kennel Care team. Our goal is to keep our dogs happy, healthy, and exercised in a superbly clean environment and we hope you will join us being the best “second home,” possible.

Qualifications/Responsibilities:

  • The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in a previous animal care environment (employee or volunteer).
  • Communication (written/verbal) skills with fellow team members, clients required, paired with the flexibility to accept changes that occur when caring for unpredictable animals.
  • This is a physically active job, requiring lifting (up to 50 pounds) and the ability to stand and walk for a good portion of the day.
  • You will administer medication as indicated/approved by owners and will be handling dogs of all shapes/sizes. (note, while most dogs are friendly, not all personalities are the same).
  • You will be part of feeding, play and cleaning time — spending time with dogs both indoors and out.
  • Reliable transportation is required, for QK is the located in the dog-friendly open spaces of northeastern, CT where public transportation is distant.
  • Weekend and holiday availability is required, as dogs do not take days off in needing to be cared for.

Dog Trainer: (full and part-time, both basic obedience and hunting dog training)

  • Must also have a passion for training with a combination of patience, persistence and repetition.
  • This physically-active, all-weather position, requires lifting a minimum of 50 pounds (up to 100, depending upon dog breed).
  • This role is fully integrated with well-rounded exposure to all aspects of training – dog/kennel care, client relations/communications and private coaching.
