The Wonder Lead is a core tool in the The Wonder Lead is a core tool in the The.Quiet.Kue training methodology, perfect for a single touch-based POINT OF CONTACT (POC) communication in training dogs. Developed by Delmar Smith, this lead is the first step to getting your dog to join up with you mentally and listen to light cues.

In our obedience and sporting dog training classes, we rely on the Wonder Lead as a fundamental tool. It’s central to our training approach, and we have a 100% success rate in teaching dogs to confidently heel on a loose lead using this tool. The primary goal with the Wonder Lead is to have a dog walk willingly beside you on a loose lead, responding to subtle cues for direction or simply following your every movement.

Many dogs, especially those with high energy, tend to pull their owners around on a leash. This behavior is detrimental for several reasons. First, a dog that pulls is not paying attention to its owner's cues, which hampers effective communication. Second, continuous pressure on the dog's throat can cause long-term harm. Lastly, a dog accustomed to pulling is more likely to break free, potentially leading to dangerous situations.

Known for its durability and ease of use, this lead is crafted to foster better control and communication with your canine friend. and is a great way to teach your dog to listen to ever increasing lighter cues.  When used properly, the Wonder Lead transforms a dog’s mindset, encouraging a calm, confident, and cooperative attitude. It teaches the dog to look to its handler for guidance and to understand that pressure on the neck has meaning, with an easy way to release it. Through this process, dogs learn to make their own decision to follow their handler’s cues, yielding to pressure. As training progresses, the cues required become lighter and more subtle, eventually leading to effortless compliance from a willing and engaged canine partner.

Ideal for both professional trainers and dedicated pet owners, this lead is a must-have for achieving optimal training outcomes.

  • The Wonder Lead is used as a way to communicate between the handler and the dog.  It gives you 6 feet to reach out and touch the dog's neck which we call a "Point of Contact".  This que/touch on the dog's neck will be the foundation for the entire The.Quiet.Kue System.  The Wonder Lead uses momentary quick pressure and allows you to cue the dog to obtain a certain action to go with you, stop with you, or come to you.  The Wonder Lead works so well because of its timing and action, pressure ti enforce and INSTANT release to reward!  You should NEVER hold tight continuous pressure on the leash, instead use light repeitious "Cues" or "Pops" in a rhythmic sequesnce intil you get the desired response.  The dog learns to give in the release of pressure and the become very will with correct use.
