5 Way DAPP – Wait period: 7 days after vaccination

The 5-in-1 vaccine for dogs is typically referred to by its acronym (DHPP, DAPP, or DA2PP) to indicate the diseases it protects against.

The canine 5-in-1 vaccine includes protection against canine distemper virus (indicated by the letter D), two types of adenovirus, aka hepatitis and kennel cough (named A, A2, or H), parainfluenza (P), and parvovirus (P).

Canine Bordetella  – Wait period: 7 days after vaccination

Preferably the internasal or oral over medication the subcutaneous injection. This helps to ward off some strains of cough BUT does not cover all strains that mutate each year. Dogs can still pick up a cough, particularly younger dogs, older dogs or those with compromised immune systems.

Canine Influenza H3N8/H3N2 Combination Bivalent Vaccine – Wait period: 7 days after last booster vaccine

This is a 2 part vaccine that is a killed virus (non-shedding). First series, then 2 to 4 weeks later, second series.

The recently developed canine influenza vaccine can help reduce the spread of this disease and the severity of its symptoms. The vaccine can also reduce the occurrence of the disease and prevent complications such as pneumonia. However, it doesn’t prevent dogs from contracting the infection. It does decrease the duration of coughing and the severity of lung lesions. The vaccine has been successfully tested on dogs and is found to be safe and well-tolerated by pets. It has also been approved by the United States Department of Agriculture for a conditional license.
